18" Chain, 1" Medal
Our Blesses Lady appeared to Sister Catherine Laboure in Paris, France in 1830. She was surrounded by a bright white light in the shape of an oval frame and was wearing many rings with beautiful gems on her fingers, from which shone shimmering rays of light. She explained that the rays symbolized the graces she shed upon those who asked her for them. A number of rings did not shine. These, the Virgin Mary said, were the graces for souls that forgot to ask.
Surrounding the Virgin were French Words that translate—“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” As Catherine watched, she saw a circle of twelve stars and a large M intertwined with a cross. Beneath these appear the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, pierced with a sword. The Virgin Mary told Sister Catherine to have this vision put on a medal, and those who wore it would receive special graces.
